seattle food ♥ - part I$BlogItemTitle$> @ Wednesday, March 10, 2010
seattle may not be THE international culinary destination, but that doesn't mean the city cannot boast of some of its awesome, delish local food! so let me share some of my food adventures here.

skillet's burger. now, a little intro here that makes skillet special. so, skillet is THE legendary food truck that goes around seattle and changes its venue and menu every now and then, and to find them you'd either have to follow them on twitter or facebook. well, nuff said. the burger consists of soft roll bun, bacon jam (yes, BACON JAM!), blue cheese, arugula and of course, the beef patty. the fries on the side is their poutine, which is hand-cut fries with cheddar, herbs and gravy.
rating: 5/5! love, love their food. will definitely hunt them down again.

hurricane spud's "pornadoes" (the twisted potato on a stick with bulgogi-flavored powder), and uglydog (potato cube-coated hot dog on a stick basically.) the pornadoes tasted okay, considering it's nothing like seasoned french fries that you can easily find in indo malls. the uglydog is nothing special.
rating: 2/5. i won't mind coming back IF my friends insist on going there. otherwise, i'm not coming back on my own. unless i'm having one of those weird craving days.

zoe restaurant's spicy wild boar bolognese. okay, honestly, when i ordered this on the menu, for a price of $18 and its description, i was expecting pork chop with, maybe, bolognese sauce or something. whoever would have known that it's pasta with GROUND PORK and some spicy meat sauce. thankfully, i would have to agree with the Yelp reviewers that it is sumptious and delish overall, even though i still have the feeling that other dishes on its menu might be better than what i had.
rating: 4/5. okay, i'm biased. taste is definitely 4.5/5, i'm still a tad upset that they grounded the meat.

mi la cay's egg noodles with barbecue pork, fried chicken and deep-fried shrimp cracker. i love the mix of cilantro, deep fried onions, shallots and just a little bit of chicken broth at the bottom of the dish. i'd usually mix in some chili sauce and hoisin sauce into it, and the taste is oh-so-good! the only way i can describe its taste is that it resembles the dry fish ball noodles in singapore, just with different meat toppings.
rating: 4.5/5! one downside is the obvious MSG after-taste. like they say, food that are bad for you usually taste... better. :)
okay, the last three pictures would all come from oliver's twist that's located in greenwood. these are tapas food, so pardon the portion sizes. honestly, i wasn't full at the end of my meal because i had to share these with like, five people. so, first one up is their tomato cappuccino with grilled cheese sandwich. an interesting twist of tomato-based dipping, resembling things that you would probably see on cooking shows like the iron chef. i really love their grilled cheese sandwich, it was light and the cheese they picked was not heavy on the tongue. not to mention how it's still melting and slightly runny when you bite into it ^^
rating: 5/5, for a grilled cheese sandwich.
blue cheese-bacon stuffed dates with marcona almonds and warm tomato vinaigrette. okay, i guess i'm not a big fan of dates, but the combination of these actually work well together. sweet, salty and savory. one drawback is that, the dates can be a little too sweet at times, and like i said, not a big fan of dates.
finally, the grilled chocolate-marshmallow brioche sandwich. this one's a little too sweet for my taste, i guess some salted butter would probably help balance the sugar out. another dessert that we ordered (but did not take a picture) was the procopio chocolate gelato, peanut butter caramel, sea salt. i preferred the latter to the one above, just because chocolate, caramel, and sea salt goes along VERY well together, in my opinion.
rating: 3/5.
