all the good food and happy eating and no exercise has led to the inevitable consequence --- me gaining FIVE POUNDS. and i can feel it everywhere. i can feel it in my flabby thighs, in my 3-month-pregnant-looking stomach and my i-feel-like-puking-every-time-i-think-about-it. to make things worse, my cousin and his girlfriend will be here tomorrow, which means that i'll be eating MORE happy food and delaying the ever-needed run. also, my stamina has chugged down the drain. fifteen minutes on the elliptical machine and i'd be gasping for air. i used to be able to go for thirty minutes easily.
GOD HELP ME.

NYC I♥YOU$BlogItemTitle$> @ Monday, March 29, 2010
new york city is indeed a city of its own kind. different, definitely, from all the west coast cities i've been to. different from san francisco, LA, seattle. the city, old yet modern, with all its high rise buildings and dirty subways. thousands of men and women in suits and ties and coats walking hastily. bad traffic, worse (or should i say, crazy) taxi drivers. not to mention, the MOST number of americans i see walking around with chanel bags in the US! (even LA has nothing in comparison with the number of new yorkers walking around in their birkins, chanels and bottegas... and tory burch flats were like, common shoes...) okay, let's not get carried away.
but, yes! i love new york! from 8 floors of saks fifth avenue to bergdorf goodman, 3 floors of H&M to zara... NYC's definitely THE shopping haven. not to mention, the city hosts some of the finest chefs, which of course equals to awesome food adventure! i feel like i gained a few pounds after the trip, and have YET lost that extra baggage. i wanted to include the food pictures in here but i feel like it's a little too much, cos if you go to my facebook album, almost EVERYTHING there is worth mentioning. so, again, i'll let pictures do the talking.

out of randomness-$BlogItemTitle$> @
okay, perhaps i'm supposed to be doing more ahem, productive things right now. but this seems fun, so i gave it a shot-
1 - Open http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
(alternatively, if the first article you hit is short, hit Random Article two more times.)
2 - Open http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Open http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use photoshop/paint/picnik.com or similar to put it all together.

not too bad, huh?

new theme ♥$BlogItemTitle$> @ Sunday, March 28, 2010
it's been almost a year since i last changed my blog's skin, and in my spring mood i've decided to update the skin! well, i'm not "tech-savvy" enough to come up with my own personal skin, and to be honest, too lazy to type out the CSS and HTML codes. but i did a couple of changes on this one to "personalize" it, so well, hope it looks good!
i've been sick since i came back from my NY trip, hence the lag in the updates here. but my facebook has the photos up, and i assume pictures speak louder than words. but of course i'll update on that trip tomorrow or when i find the time to. my cousin allen & his girlfriend are coming over on thursday, and my house (including my bro's room which will be their guest room) is in a mess, so... tons of things to do! look out for more updates tomorrow *cross my fingers*

my biological clock is tickin'-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Monday, March 15, 2010
tick tock, tick tock. i don't know if this is some effects you get at the age of 21, but... i've been having random thoughts of things i'd never ever dare to dream about in my wildest 21 years of life. things like...
marriage... *GASP*
kids... *DOUBLE GASP*
all of a sudden, the idea of those two "used-to-be-taboo-topics-to-talk-to-me" don't sound as bad anymore. YIKESS!! WHAT AM I TURNING INTO?!?!?!
oh, and talking about time, daylight savings time has begun last night at 2am (march 14th, also known as 'pi' day, well, you know, pi = 3.14 = march 14th?). let's blame somebody for my loss of one hour of sleep. how about benjamin franklin for a start?

stuff i'm ♥in' - part I$BlogItemTitle$> @ Friday, March 12, 2010

okay, this is probably a long, overdue picture. the valentine's day card david got me :)

coach's hearts keychain that david bought for me for valentine's day as well.

the j brand pencil skinny jeans i bought on bluefly recently. i've yet to alter this one.

BCBG's dress with a ruffled top and pencil skirt attached to it. okay, this picture is not good enough to salvage its worth, because the top is whiter than it looks here, and the waist belt looks better when put on the body. back look: frog buttons around the neck, and bare back up to just above the bra strap line. okay, BAD BAD description. well, i'm not a fashion major anyway. i graduated in finance.

my new balenciaga's storm giant city bag! LOVE this new baby! XD

seattle food ♥ - part I$BlogItemTitle$> @ Wednesday, March 10, 2010
seattle may not be THE international culinary destination, but that doesn't mean the city cannot boast of some of its awesome, delish local food! so let me share some of my food adventures here.

skillet's burger. now, a little intro here that makes skillet special. so, skillet is THE legendary food truck that goes around seattle and changes its venue and menu every now and then, and to find them you'd either have to follow them on twitter or facebook. well, nuff said. the burger consists of soft roll bun, bacon jam (yes, BACON JAM!), blue cheese, arugula and of course, the beef patty. the fries on the side is their poutine, which is hand-cut fries with cheddar, herbs and gravy.
rating: 5/5! love, love their food. will definitely hunt them down again.

hurricane spud's "pornadoes" (the twisted potato on a stick with bulgogi-flavored powder), and uglydog (potato cube-coated hot dog on a stick basically.) the pornadoes tasted okay, considering it's nothing like seasoned french fries that you can easily find in indo malls. the uglydog is nothing special.
rating: 2/5. i won't mind coming back IF my friends insist on going there. otherwise, i'm not coming back on my own. unless i'm having one of those weird craving days.

zoe restaurant's spicy wild boar bolognese. okay, honestly, when i ordered this on the menu, for a price of $18 and its description, i was expecting pork chop with, maybe, bolognese sauce or something. whoever would have known that it's pasta with GROUND PORK and some spicy meat sauce. thankfully, i would have to agree with the Yelp reviewers that it is sumptious and delish overall, even though i still have the feeling that other dishes on its menu might be better than what i had.
rating: 4/5. okay, i'm biased. taste is definitely 4.5/5, i'm still a tad upset that they grounded the meat.

mi la cay's egg noodles with barbecue pork, fried chicken and deep-fried shrimp cracker. i love the mix of cilantro, deep fried onions, shallots and just a little bit of chicken broth at the bottom of the dish. i'd usually mix in some chili sauce and hoisin sauce into it, and the taste is oh-so-good! the only way i can describe its taste is that it resembles the dry fish ball noodles in singapore, just with different meat toppings.
rating: 4.5/5! one downside is the obvious MSG after-taste. like they say, food that are bad for you usually taste... better. :)
okay, the last three pictures would all come from oliver's twist that's located in greenwood. these are tapas food, so pardon the portion sizes. honestly, i wasn't full at the end of my meal because i had to share these with like, five people. so, first one up is their tomato cappuccino with grilled cheese sandwich. an interesting twist of tomato-based dipping, resembling things that you would probably see on cooking shows like the iron chef. i really love their grilled cheese sandwich, it was light and the cheese they picked was not heavy on the tongue. not to mention how it's still melting and slightly runny when you bite into it ^^
rating: 5/5, for a grilled cheese sandwich.
blue cheese-bacon stuffed dates with marcona almonds and warm tomato vinaigrette. okay, i guess i'm not a big fan of dates, but the combination of these actually work well together. sweet, salty and savory. one drawback is that, the dates can be a little too sweet at times, and like i said, not a big fan of dates.
finally, the grilled chocolate-marshmallow brioche sandwich. this one's a little too sweet for my taste, i guess some salted butter would probably help balance the sugar out. another dessert that we ordered (but did not take a picture) was the procopio chocolate gelato, peanut butter caramel, sea salt. i preferred the latter to the one above, just because chocolate, caramel, and sea salt goes along VERY well together, in my opinion.
rating: 3/5.
