come to think about it, my music taste's been constantly evolving and changing ever since i was little. so why not create a little timeline of how my music taste's changed, from maybe good to bad, or bad to good. depends on how you view music. hehe.
age four - eight: mostly children's songs. anything from indonesian kids' songs to the classics like, well, you name it, "baa baa black sheep", "twinkle, twinkle little stars" and most christmas carols.
age nine - ten: my uncle's tapes, which consisted of good oldies like "how deep is your love", "pretty woman" and the like.
age ten: this was probably my turning point in music. why? i started watching mtv! i'm proud enough to say i started listening to goo goo dolls, third eye blind and the like. then i got into the world of pop, and started listening to britney spears, kavana, spice girls... you name it. and then backstreet boys came into my life! those days.
age eleven - twelve: backstreet boys all the way. some aaron carter songs, shamefully.
age twelve: blink-182 and eminem. yes, bsb is still in this list.
age thirteen: another turning point in my music. started listening to the likes of linkin park, blink-182, green day. and japanese songs.
age fourteen: anime music. probably a drastic turn from all the english songs i had been listening to all this while, yeah?
age fifteen - sixteen: started listening to chinese songs. mostly jay chou songs though. i hated the likes of SHE, cyndi wang, etc. cos they're just pretty faces who can't even sing to save their lives. and they acted cute. that's gross. but i still listened to japanese pop songs like BoA and utada hikaru.
age seventeen - eighteen: this was when i started listening to english songs again. but no more pop songs this time. mostly punk rock like all-american rejects, green day again, weezer, jimmy eat world.
age eighteen - twenty: started leaning more and more toward alternative rock and indie. and some heavy rock too. smashing pumpkins, radiohead, avenged sevenfold, kaiser chiefs, muse, postal service, interpol, franz ferdinand, arctic monkeys, death cab for cutie, bloc party, and many more. also enjoyed good slow songs like those from regina spektor, ingrid michaelson and any classic music from the 18th century kind.
now, i'm opening up again, and becoming more receptive to the latest hip-hop and popular songs as well. still love, love alt-rock and indie. never going back to boybands, and more open to some jazz as well. oh, and still hates country music :p
my current playlist? well, i haven't been listening to a lot of alt-rock lately, prolly because of the friends i've been hanging out with. so it goes a little something like this:
1. IYAZ - Replay
2. Dustin O'Halloran - Opus 17
3. Jay Z ft. Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind
4. Jason Derulo - Whatcha Say
5. Kevin Rudolf ft. Lil Wayne - Let it Rock
6. The Offspring - Hammerhead
7. Vampire Weekend - A-Punk
8. Ingrid Michaelson - You and I
9. Keri Hilson ft. Kanye West - Knock You Down
10. Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy
11. Soundtrack from Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain - Comptine D'Un Autre Ete
12. Sean Paul - So Fine
13. Maino Ft. T-Pain - All the Above
14. MGMT - Electric Feel
15. Travis - Flowers in the Window
that's all for now, folks!
with love-
