sometimes i wonder... what does it take for people to go on long distance relationships? is it just communication and trust? or must there be something more, like, time spent with each other prior to the LD? suppose i'd gone back this august, will things still be the same between us?
i'm not writing this because something's gone bad between david and i; we've been doing just great. but i can't help but wonder how things'd be if the latter had happened. if i hadn't decided to stay here at the last minute. one week, one month, three months... maybe things'd still be fine. how about six months, one year into the future? where we'd probably meet only twice or thrice between that period. will things go on the same? is long distance love that easy? or is it not?

perhaps getting up early in the morning does have its perks after all! i passed my phone interview round with wells fargo! so i'll be going for another group interview tomorrow morning, and i really, really hope to pass that one too. oh! and i just received notice that my employment card has been approved! so it should be on its way.
what a perfect way to start the day ^^

move-a-scramble!$BlogItemTitle$> @ Sunday, August 30, 2009
hate, hate, hate moving! because there's just so many things. and especially without my brother, it's all a mess. because his things are everywhere! i also hate cleaning up all the cabinets. cos once you dig up cupboards and cabinets that supposedly you know so well and open everyday, you'll always find things that have been well-hidden there for months and, of course, have gone bad. gahh!!
also, as i move my stuff one by one, i realize that i'm quite disorganized. i can't make myself like, clean up one room and move on to the next. i'll move whatever i feel like moving first, so maybe one round i'll clean up one of the kitchen cabinets, and next round i'm taking care of the bathroom. and suddenly i find myself moving stuff from the laundry room. now the whole apartment's a mess! good thing i tidied things up pretty neatly in the new apartment ^^;

the job of the jobless-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Wednesday, August 26, 2009
what do you do when you're unemployed, and have not started actively looking for jobs? you chill out with friends the whole day, gossip, try out new restaurants and cafes, and meet up with friends you've not met for ages. and that was exactly what i did!
monday was culinary destination #1: mediterranean mix. i tried their philly cheese steak sandwich, and while it's good, i'll probably rate it a 3.5/5. the place was kinda run-down, so i don't know if i'd want to come back again, but albert's lamb and rice was pretty good. sad thing was, we forgot to take pictures because we were all so hungry by the time the food came!

they skewered tennis balls to the bottom of the tables and chairs at the restaurant. unique huh?
so, tuesday! restaurant tour day #2's destination: kingfish cafe. delish southern comfort food! i'll definitely return there to eat again. love, love the gumbo that steffi ordered!

): the picture's dark, but the place has a really strong southern ambience. which i obviously did not capture well in this picture ^^;;

well, the menu said crab cake, so i was expecting to get crab cake, without the buns. little did i know it came out as a sandwich. it was pretty good though i'd rate it a 3/5. the coleslaw was so-so.

steffi's gumbo! this is definitely what i'm going to order the next time i go there. the cornbread on the side's also very good!

albert's salmon sandwich. which was very delish according to him.

our next stop - vivace cafe at broadway. where we spent 3 whole hours gossiping :p oh, and that's the huge painting on the wall that i stared at the whole time there.

iced white velvet from vivace. caffeine goodness in a glass ^^

food critic # 1 & #2.

food critic #3.
and finally today, i went to visit lixi, my spanish friend from way back in shoreline. and we gossiped a lot about my ex, our group of friends from that time, stuff like that. it sure feels good catching up with her ^^

our timeline-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Sunday, August 23, 2009
i'm really really bored right now, and have nothing better to do i guess. so i want to lay down our timeline, from when we met, how things developed. heheh. just for memory's sake. we might forget this someday, but if it's put down in print then at least we'll have something to look back to in the future, right?
february 9 - first time i saw you. at vanessa's birthday party. but we didn't talk yea?
march 17 - end-of-winter quarter potluck party. that was when i really remembered seeing you. but we still hadn't talked.
march 28 - the hotpot party. that was the first time we really talked. and we found out we're both taking japanese classes! oh, and you taught me how to play wii.
march 29 - you added me on facebook. and wrote on my wall ;)
april 30 - anastasia's birthday. i started noticing you cos you were wearing that button-down shirt. hehe.
may 3 - you started messaging me on facebook. that's when we started talking with each other more often.
may 9 - spring cruise! can't believe i blurted out my feelings to you in japanese when i was drunk!
sometime in between we came up with that "the devil (referring to you!) walks on the left side" thing. hehehehehe. oh, and that "secret weapons"! things that'll turn you red. hoho.
may 24 - our first date. we went to bellevue square, ate at PF Chang's, watched angels & demons, and i still remember how i painted black nail polish on your finger and that glitter powder at sephora! and fun, fun at gameworks.
may 25 - you asked me if i'd like to go on another date, i said "hmmmm...... u think? =p" i guess you kinda panicked cos you immediately guessed my answer is a no. when my answer was "じゃ、でも今度どこに行きましょうか?"
may 30 - you confessed to me! i was so scared cos i didn't know what to reply you with that i called my cousin and cried on the phone. silly me ^^"
sometime around here we started playing that butler game, after i showed you メイちゃんの執事 at odegaard library. hehehe.
june 1 - you told me how you went to PF Chang and got this fortune cookie message saying "a new relationship is about to blossom. you will be blessed." honestly, i blushed when i read that, but i thought it'd be quite impossible since i'll be going back to indo. funny how things change right?
june 2 - you said this. "eh jo, 木曜日に買い物に行く時もし手をつないで歩いてもいい?" hahahahaha!! cute. oh! and we went looking for my graduation dress too on that day. and you were quite disappointed when i didn't show you the sexy dress i tried on at bebe. :p
june 4 - you held my hand for the first time. ♥ and we played that "walk-me-around-with-my-eyes-closed" game! and you completed level 2, that is, leading me all the way to my car with my eyes closed. was this also the day when i gave you our first kiss?
june 25 - you asked me if i wanted to be your girlfriend. and i finally said yes!
july 2 - we finally announced to everybody via facebook. voila!

the danger of being idle-$BlogItemTitle$> @
this is what happens when you idle too much. when you stare at the computer, browsing aimlessly through websites like facebook and youtube. can't believe i almost burned my apartment down! apparently, i'd wanted to cook some instant noodles for myself, so i went and boiled some water. then, for some unfathomable reason i walked back to my room and started browsing through the web. and completely forgot about it. until 30 minutes later, when i thought to myself, "hmm i wanna cook some noodles", walked to my stove and realized i'd been boiling water at the maximum knob, and there was only little water left bubbling in my pan. it sure sent some adrenaline down my nerves. > <"

8/21 daniel's broiler date$BlogItemTitle$> @ Saturday, August 22, 2009
exactly one month ago, we ate at daniel's broiler to celebrate anas, agus & yote's farewell. and yesterday, i found myself sitting there again for my farewell dinner with david, who's just gone back an hour ago. by now i assume he's already 10,000ft up in the air on the way to narita international airport.
well, nevertheless last night was perfect. great meal, great movie (we watched inglorious bastards! i'm giving a thumbs up for that. it's definitely a must-watch for those who haven't seen it!) & of course, great boyfriend, and great way to end the night ;) and we finally took purikura together! i can't believe i actually forgot to bring my iPhone to daniel's broiler yesterday, so i had to use david's to take the pictures. so here are some pics!

i really love this picture i took! ^^

i was sitting behind the windows, so the picture's darker! > <"

my fave picture of you, but i don't know why you don't like it as much :p

starter bread and butter! i couldn't manage to finish it cos the food came really soon. but i really loved the butter. soft & creamyy!

david's prime rib eye steak with bearnaise sauce, cooked to medium-well. daniel's broiler's probably got the best steak in town!

my medium prime filet mignon with peppercorn brandy sauce! yumm yumm. goodness on a plate.

garlic steak fries! it was delish but not as good as the steak, of course :p

♥

our first puri! ^^ the scan's not that clear cos i zoomed it in. maybe i'll try doing a second scan next time.

panic brewing-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Tuesday, August 18, 2009
i'm moving out of B109! into the building i used to live in, which is, block C. and this time, i get a unit that faces the courtyard, so i hope it won't be too noisy. but now my panic mode's starting to kick in... well, here's the situation.
i live with my brother right? and, i'll have to take the keys to my new room on the 1st of september, and return the keys in my old apartment by 11th september. at first i thought, great, i have 11 days to move my stuff over. what's the big deal? what i seemed to forget just now was that, i'm going to LA on the 5th! so i only have 5 days. plus, my brother's not in town to pack his VERY MESSY room. (and i'm really stressing on the caps there.) so, 5 days to move all the heavy furniture, all my kitchenware, EVERYTHING basically. oh nooo!!!!!!! i guess i have to start sorting out what i want and what i don't want, like, immediately. i hope i can do this in time. i'm really freaking out!! aaahhh!!! > <"

arcade-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Sunday, August 16, 2009
had a really great time at gameworks today! anyway, two things made my day there. one, there was this geek at the tekken 6 counter, and he kept using christie (the character i usually use when i play that game) to defeat david and my other guy friends. it's kinda lame, cos christie's a really easy character to play, and you don't even need to know how to play tekken to actually win using that character. just move your joystick randomly, press the buttons repeatedly and you'll usually fare above average (if not, pretty well). so i showed him that i too, can play christie. and i defeated him 3-0! woohoo! so happy i showed him. hahaa. oh, and two, i defeated albert & yonax at daytona racing ^^. yayy!!
oh, and i've also finally tried eating at ipanema! so, to those who don't know what ipanema is, it's basically a brazilian steak buffet restaurant that has several branches around the U.S. so instead of going around a buffet bar and picking out your meat, they bring the meat to your table, carve it and serve it in front of you. i thought their meats were pretty good, and overall i'd give a 3.5 out of 5. the lack of stars is due to the frequency of the meat coming (which is, infrequent to say the least). i mean, you wait and wait for your meat to come, then you get full. some trick they use huh?
but overall i'm pretty happy with this saturday. come to think of it, it's the last saturday that i'm spending with david, since he's going back next week. i wish we can spend more quality time together next week, at least. well, it's true that he's only going back for a month, but i'm sure i'll miss him. especially since i've been seeing him everyday for like, a month plus now... but i'm sure we can pull through. i mean, one month. no biggies. i've done it before, lots of times, in my previous relationships. and i don't see anything in this relationship that makes it any less than my previous ones. so, i'm sure we'll be just fine (:

eat eat eat$BlogItemTitle$> @ Thursday, August 13, 2009
aaahhhh.... i've finally remembered to take some food pictures! okay, not a good critic here, even though i've eaten out for like, probably months since i got lazy cooking and start to hang out more... anyhow, here are... 2 pictures. ^^;; well, two is not a bad number you know.

spicy fish fillet noodles from chiang's gourmet. something that david & i always order when we go there. i really love their noodles cos it's homemade, so it has better texture than the regular factory-produced ones. good ol' szechuanese food. ^^

overpriced burger from lunchbox laboratory! consists of sourdough bun, super beef (that's what they call it), swiss cheese, sweet onion sauce & super secret steak sauce. with a side of sweet potato fries. yummy, but still... expensive ($15 for that!) for a place that they serve their food in.
and that's all for now folks! 'll probably feature more when i go to LA next month. (:

30 days-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Monday, August 3, 2009
a month has passed, and every day spent with you is simply a blessing from God. yesterday was our first month anniversary! and i'm still really, really happy with that bouquet of roses you gave me when i came out of the shower. lunch at golden biersch was also good, even though i forgot to take a picture of my meal *again* and yet has to delay my food blog.
and then i took almost an hour (or did i spend more?) looking for that surprise i wanted to give you. the only reason i took so long - the queue line at the fitting room was really long! apparently, girls/women like to take their time when trying on lingerie. -.-" no, i didn't buy lingerie, of course. but something else that i knew you'd like. cos you told me before, men are visual creatures. ;)
then we headed back home, and we just spent time talking on your bed. nothing i'd trade away for. then dinner at purple cafe & bar. and time to show you my surprise.
yesterday was just perfect. and it's thanks to you love.

face-off!$BlogItemTitle$> @ Sunday, August 2, 2009
i've just realized... that saturday is no different from any other day. i get to wake up late, get ready late... just like my any other day. anyhow, my T.O.M. finally came today, and gosh i think only females can sympathize with how i felt. all that abdominal cramps! and it lasted like, practically the whole day... x.x
so david & i had lunch at cheesecake factory. i got the lunch portion miso salmon, and he ordered the cajun chicken pieces. remember how i talked about my wish to start a food blog? one bad habit that doesn't support that wish: i'll dig in before taking the picture! especially food that i've eaten before. gaahhh!!! when can i start my food blog if i keep doing this!!
later in the afternoon we headed to cicilia's farewell party at greenlake. again, david & i got really bored cos 1) we don't really know the people there, 2) we couldn't connect with their convos, 3) they gave really long testimonials/speeches, 4) well... i guess there were only three ^^;; so toward the end of that event david showed me this girl's post on his facebook wall. i got really pissed cos that girl.. she probably doesn't know any manners. if she's seen his status on facebook, she wouldn't have written that. and to add on to things, david told me something that kinda took me by surprise. so i was really pissed. then he got pissed too. i thought, i should be the one getting angry, not him!
but turns out things were just some misunderstanding and miscommunication. also, the sequel of events weren't right too. but well, nobody's perfect, no couples are perfect, and trust me love, this is perfectly fine. at least it ends before our day ended right? and i'm really looking forward to your surprise tomorrow, and our 1st month anniversary day. do anticipate the lil surprise from me too ks!

30&31-$BlogItemTitle$> @ Saturday, August 1, 2009
aahhh... didn't get to blog yesterday and today (well, i'm technically still assuming today's july 31st since i've not gone to bed yet...). just a few highlights i wanna note:
30th
30th - 2nd consecutive day of mad, hot weather in seattle. high was at around 39, 40C? if that's my body temperature, i'd be sent to the ER already. so we chilled out at t-station (which wasn't that chill-y...), and then albert, janey, david & i headed to gameworks when the others took off early. fun, fun times at gameworks! and the purikura machine is back! so, albert, janey, david & i took one... not a 100% success, but not too bad either. we'll do better next time now that we know how the machine works! oh, and i still can't accept the fact that that fat black guy challenged me when i was just playing tekken 6 with david for fun! that arrogant man.... hmpf! he's just lucky i pressed the wrong character and ended up not playing... if i'd used christie, i'm sure he'd have lost =p
31st
the weather chilled a little today! even though it's still crazy hot, it's more bearable. high was around 31-32C... something like singapore or jakarta. out of all places, we chilled out at t-station *again*. i tried their minced pork & popcorn chicken over rice combo, and kinda regretted it. i should've just gotten the popcorn chicken over rice, cos the minced pork was kinda dry, not really up to my taste. UNO game is always fun, especially when alika, iva & david are all so competitive. memory game was also fun, but... i'm not good with any kind of short-term memory... especially those that you have to memorize on the spot. so, i kinda sucked at that game, but who cares? it was all fun. looking forward to karaoke night tomorrow night! and my face-off with albert for linkin park's "in the end".
ah, such is the life of an unemployed. it seems like everyday i get up at around 11, wait for david to come at around 1, go have lunch, hang out, play, eat, play... sleep. with some other random activities in between of course. i know i shouldn't get used to it, but... i already have. and i've somehow taken comfort in this lifestyle. in a bad way. cos i have to start looking for a job soon... and i can't always slack my whole life off. even though it's fun. relaxing. stress-free. happy.
